Furnishing Fabrics: Interiors at St. Mary’s Street is justifiably proud of the range of fabrics available from the showroom – from many internationally known suppliers we have selected and sourced a comprehensive selection of books that give real choice and precision to interior schemes. The range of books is constantly being added to and modified – new collections are carefully assessed and included whilst classic and proved favourites remain.

Abbott & Boyd - are British Suppliers for Gaston y Daniela and Elitis. The richness and variety of Gaston y Daniela compliment Elitis with their textured wallpaper and excellent range of plain fabrics in 3m widths. Abbott & Boyd have become internationally known for their ranges of avant-garde and highly innovative contemporary concept fabrics.

Academy Clairtex - offer an interesting range of contemporary fabrics, as well as a very good range of plain and textured fabrics.

Andrew Martin -  new pattern books have combined a traditional look with strong colouring which goes well with their unusual weaves and luxurious chenille’s. The Thackeray Collection is particularly useful.

Anna French - collections offer vibrant colour and exciting patterns that appeal to both the young and adult eye. Their new pattern books have been warmly welcomed with their distinctive style and colour palette. The “Glamour” and “Wild” wallpaper collections offer brilliant design and exciting colour. Anna French is now part of the American company Thibaut which means that the huge range of stunning wallpapers and fabrics produced by Thibaut are readily available in this country.

Arthur Sanderson – Sandersons have always been a byword for quality and design and their new compilation books  of Boracay, Pemberley and Options 10  show off those traditions with a fresh and exciting variety of fabrics and papers. More traditional florals sit alongside Art Deco inspired weaves like Ellington and delicate oriental inspired Tinta and Maia embroideries.

Beacon Hill – We carry some of their fascinating Upholstery collections – lively and interesting motifs in good colour.

Bennett Silks - offer a huge range of beautiful silks of outstanding quality. With the increasing use of silk in interiors, Bennetts offers exciting choices.

Blithfield & Co. – A fascinating company who have reproduced the designs of Peggy Angus (1904-1993). This is a range of eight wallpapers and five fabrics taken from an archive of original wallpapers produced from 1950 to 1970. Peggy Angus was a lino cut designer of distinction whose archive conjours up the essence of folk design.

Brian Lawrence – A superb collection of authentic crewel work which includes traditional motifs as well as more contemporary design and colour ways

Brian Yates - The range of fabrics and wallpapers offered by Brian Yates grows each year. The amazing Ulf Moritz wallpapers and Scala textured wall coverings bring real designer flair and style. Sheila Coombes fabrics remain very useful and decorative – Medina and Summer Palace fabrics are particularly lovely. Arte wallpapers offer style and a contemporary look.

Brunschwig & Fils - offer a huge range of fabrics and wallpapers and exciting and beautiful prints. They are agents for Stark Wallcoverings who produce exquisite and truly wonderful hand painted scenic murals.

Busby & Busby - are a small company with an interesting selection of pattern books with a soft colour palette. The Trouvé collection contains small scale toiles in both fabric and wallpaper in an appealing range of subtle colours.

Carlucci – This company produces a vast range of extraordinary and exuberant fabrics.

Casamance – This French company produces a huge range of wallpapers and fabrics. The wallpaper panels in the Marquise Collection offer unusual and original decorating options. The stunning silks in the Mezzo Collection offer great design in exciting colourways.

Chanee Ducrocq – This French company produce very beautiful prints and sumptuous weaves.

Chase Erwin  - produce wonderful, luxurious silks.

Chivasso - Another company that produce a huge range of fabrics from high camp glitz through bold domestic checks and stripes to beautiful and ethereal fabrics like English Rose.

Colefax & Fowler - Internationally known and celebrated for their amazing ranges of beautiful fabrics, each new collection adds to their reputation for considered design produced in exquisite colour on quality fabrics – prints and embroideries, linens and silks. They are one of our best sellers!

De Le Cuona – high end luxury fine wools – glorious paisleys in jewel like colours.

Design Forum – Always produce beautiful and interesting fabrics – we really like the simplicity of the Climbing Leaf silks.

Designers Guild – Amazing and exuberant designs in stunning vibrant colour. Very distinctive fabrics celebrate scale and pattern. Glorious stripes in intense colour combinations, floating voiles in lively bands of colour, jewel like velvets, no other designer handles colour like Tricia Guild.

Dominique Kieffer – Wonderful, perfect minimalist fabrics – linens and wools – highly refined colour palette – divine!

Elitis – Extraordinary fabrics – using an eclectic palette.

Florence Broadhurst - The designs of this legendary Australian designer whose colourful career spans the 20th Century, are now available from Signature Prints.

Garin specialise in exotic weaves in a rich colour palette, excellent upholstery fabrics and some stunning large scale designs.

G.P.& J. Baker – so well known for their beautiful prints and weaves. A wonderful traditional archive is enlivened by new colour ways and some extraordinary sumptuous appliqué & embroidery.

Harlequin – This company have really developed and expanded their ranges of fabrics: wonderful velvets – Arkona and Mimosa collections, silks and weaves have been added to exciting prints and dramatic furnishing fabrics. We carry a very large number of their sample books because of the sheer diversity of their products. They have a terrific collection of fabrics and wallpapers perfect for youngsters called Far Far Away. The Florentina and Dali collections have proved very popular.

Hodsell McKenzie – A large and very diverse collection of fabrics – prints and weaves that go from traditional and highly decorative to folk and to reinterpretations of historical motifs.

Ian Mankin – a brilliant range of stripes, plains and textures. Great tickings and a lovely range of linens and co-ordinated cottons – all at really good price points.

Ian Sanderson specializes in upholstery weaves with a wonderful palette. ‘Ad Infinitum’ is introducing a delightful selection of printed silks and linen which have great appeal. They have now added a very comprehensive range of tweeds and plains suitable for both curtains and upholstery.

Isle Mill – Glorious wool tartans and plaids in both traditional colourings but also soft and beautiful colourways. The cloth has a marvellous feel – very finely woven pure wool, now augmented by some ethereal and gossamer silks.

JAB produce a staggering range of fabrics – from glorious embroidered silks, through floating voiles, beautiful damasks, intricate weaves, serviceable cottons – we carry a very large number of their sample books and an extensive range of their hangers.

James Brindley have introduced several new books of embroidered and printed silks with clever colour combinations. Their range of plain silks in different qualities and weights is outstanding.

James Hare – This company produce a vast range of silk fabrics in many different qualities – all in terrific colour palettes. The French Knot and Leaf appliqué fabrics are absolute winners.

Jane Churchill  - Characterised by their fresh colours and beautiful designs these fabrics add style and sophistication to all interiors. ‘The Nursery Collection’ contains enchanting wallpapers and fabrics using images of The Flower Fairies and Beatrix Potter’s characters.


Jasper Conran – A small but very stylish and sophisticated collection of fabrics in smart designer colours. Distributed by Designer’s Guild.

Jim Dickens – A very interesting range of fabrics – coordinating plains, stripes and damasks in rich jewel like colours. Highly decorative designs that take traditional motifs and through scale and woven textures create something fresh and innovative. They have the added appeal of being very reasonably priced!!

Lewis & Wood produce an outstanding range of innovative designs in both fabric and wallpaper. Through scale and colour they have an originality and style.

Linwood specialize in wonderfully textured fabrics. Their ‘Torridon’ chenille is an excellent upholstery cloth.

Liberty – apart from the amazing archive of Arts & Crafts prints, Liberty now produce lovely contemporary fabrics – simple motifs in considered colour combinations as well as vibrant geometric prints. Distributed by Osborne & Little

Lorca – Simply stunning fabrics – glorious embroideries in vivid colours, beautiful prints and brilliant plains. What characterises these fabrics is the drawing – the real sense of an artist observing and recording flowers and foliage. Distributed by Osborne & Little.

Malabar - have continued to develop and hone their ranges which include a number of upholstery fabrics. Their Jellabee book has been followed by Akuti which has a great appeal to a younger market. The sophistication of Kafila embroidered silk is hard to beat. The new books of vibrant stripes – Tipitina & Zaika really offer brilliant decorative opportunities.

Manuel Canovas – Wonderful floral prints in exuberant colour sit together with scenic designs and “still lives”. All the designs have a distinct designer feel, sophisticated and elegant. Distributed by Colefax & Fowler.

Marvic-  wonderful chenilles have the perfect ‘antique’ look and their Moirés are available in an exciting colour palette with stripes and checks to compliment the plains. The Italian weaves are very smart whilst their prints are soft with a subtle colour selection. The range of embroidered fabrics and dramatic crewel works enhances their range.

Metaphores – An eclectic collection of unusual and brilliant fabrics – from the metallic sheens of Mercure to mohair and knit in Comanche. Distributed by Abbott & Boyd.

Mulberry – For The Classic English Country House look explore the wonderful world of Mulberry Home. Alongside glorious prints and carefully coloured co-ordinates sit vibrant and exciting tweeds and weaves.

Nina Campbell  - Every year a new, vibrant and exciting collection is added to augment the stylish and sophisticated Nina Campbell ranges. Birdcage Walk, Parroquet, and Giverney are super collections of prints; Waltz a really attractive weave collection; Meryton is a clever take on stripes.

Nouveau – a company that has really reinvented itself – the range of designs has taken on a far more contemporary feel and the colour palette has become fresh and lively.

Osborne & Little -Another brilliant company that always produces innovative and exciting designs. Just to look through Tara, Miradouro, Barouche and Chicane is to take a journey through 21st. C. design at its very best. Lomand wools rethink Plaid, Vintage Silks celebrate classic O & L designs, while Serang silks sing in glorious intense colours.

Paper Moon – offer a wealth of idiosyncratic designs. Looking for shells? Boats? Fish? Then Paper Moon can provide the fabric.

Pallu & Lake – another big collection of interesting prints and weaves – Country depicts horses and riding accoutrements and is thus very popular in The Shires!

Price Regency – Excellent for good basic fabrics – cottons and velvets.

Ralph Lauren – this iconic Life Style designer has produced a huge range of fabrics and furnishings. His cool and sophisticated stripes and checks are really useful when creating a real Designer Look. Distributed by Designer’s Guild

Ramm, Son & Crocker - beautiful English Prints have been sourced from their vast archives. These are available in linen and cotton chintz.

Robert Allen – A vast Empire of fabrics – we carry some of their imaginative and unusual small scale upholstery fabrics books.

Romo – Another brilliant company that produces a huge range of contemporary prints together with great weaves and plains. The Linara range of washable linen/cotton mixture is very useful indeed. The Stratton and New Heversham ranges have proved very popular – ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. The Orsello collection offers glowing stripes of velour and unusual tufted stripes.

The Royal Collection – These are absolutely sumptuous silks, velvets and damasks based on fabrics in the Royal Collection. Motifs and designs have been adapted by Tricia Guild and re-coloured and embellished to produce luxurious and wonderful jewel like materials. Distributed by Designer’s Guild

Rubelli – World famous luxurious silks and velvet. These fabrics are in a class of their own. Magnificent, sumptuous silk damasks and vibrant Venetian stripes.

The Silk Gallery – have wonderful, luxurious silks in a huge range of colours.

Swaffer – We are really pleased to be able to offer these vibrant and colourful prints, weaves and plains. The Paradis and the Handpicked collection of florals have a wonderful water-colour like quality. The Acer plains and Berber linens co-ordinate perfectly with the prints.

Thibaut – This American company produce a huge range of fabrics ranging from traditional and archive prints to lively contemporary designs. The palette of colour has a distinctly non-European feel and the scale used in some of the designs delivers drama and excitement.

Timney Fowler - dynamic use of scale and black & white characterize their fabrics, which are complimented by wallpapers and borders.

Titley & Marr - have an interesting children’s collection in addition to a good selection of upholstery and curtain fabrics. We particularly like the smart wool checks in the Jermyn and Saville book. The Deer Park Collection offers delightful prints that use stylised images from the natural world. The new ranges of classic Damasks in the Balmoral & Sandringham collection are very welcome as are the jolly stripes and checks in the New England Regatta collection.

Today Interiors have extended their range with some interesting weaves. We have been successful with the Palio collection and the Silki book has created lots of interest.

Vanessa Arbuthnott – a lovely range of bight vibrant and slightly quirky designs – perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and children’s rooms.

Villa Nova continues to broaden and extend its range with some interesting collections of prints and weaves as well as wallpapers. – The new collection, Arlington, contains some very good silk stripes in terrific colour combinations

Watts of Westminster continue to produce luxurious, traditional, rich damasks in glowing colours.

Wemyss -  Wemyss continue to provide a really good range of plain and self-patterned fabrics in a wide range of colours and qualities.

Zimmer & Rhode offer an extraordinary range of fabrics with some innovative new concepts. The ‘Fantasia’ fabric from the Secret Garden collection is a good example of their highly original approach to textile design.

Zoffany is a world acclaimed English manufacturer and supplier. They continue to offer a comprehensive range of beautiful fabrics – from magnificent traditional damasks and florals to exciting contemporary prints, subtle textures and rich weaves. Themed collections like the Ducato range and the French Print and Weaves collections offer outstanding design and exceptional quality. In collaboration with the National Trust, Zoffany have created a stunning collection of fabrics and wallpapers based on documents found in Britain’s greatest country houses. The Nureyev collection plays with scale and texture to produce drama and flamboyance.
